Outside his law practice, Adam teaches a course in Canadian Business Law at Memorial University, Grenfell Campus, and is actively involved with several professional and not-for-profit organizations. He is a long-time member and past president of the Canadian Bar Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Branch, and has also served as a board member with the Vine Place Community Centre, the Corner Brook Museum and Archives, the Rotary Club of Corner Brook, the Corner Brook Rotary Music Festival Association, and the Humber River Rowing Club.
