After high school, Allan obtained his university education at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. In 1983 Allan graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree. In July 1984, Allan was admitted to the Law Society of Saskatchewan. In 1989 Allan bought a partial interest in a Regina law firm. He practiced in Regina for 10 years. The firm name wasDuchin, Bayda & Kroczynski.
