About

Alyssa graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Environmental Biology and the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. She summered and articled with Young, Anderson and then joined the firm after her call to the bar in 2004. Alyssa is a partner at Young, Anderson. Before attending law school, Alyssa worked in forest research for the University of Alberta and the Canadian Forest Service. She maintained an environmental interest at law school being actively involved and holding an executive position with the University of Victoria Environmental Law Centre. Alyssa is a solicitor as well as a litigator and has appeared in all levels of Court in British Columbia. She has also appeared before the Environmental Appeal Board and the Agricultural Land Commission, She has been a guest lecturer at the UBC Faculty of Law in municipal law, the UVic Faculty of Law in administrative law and the UBC School of Community and Regional Planning in planning and land use law as well as various seminars and courses on municipal and land use law sponsored by the Simon Fraser University and Capilano University. She has also spoken at the Canadian Institute of Planners National Conference, the International Municipal Lawyers Association Conference and the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute at the Sturm College of Law in Denver, Colorado.

Alyssa has a passion for traveling, spending her last semester of law school on exchange to New Zealand. In her spare time, she is an avid surfer, snowboarder, skier and hiker.
