Anita also has significant expertise in professional discipline matters. In recognition of her exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession, Anita was appointed King’s Counsel in 2026. Raised in a farming family in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, Anita learned early the values of hard work, accountability, and resilience. Before pursuing law, she gained hands-on experience running a successful business, grounding her legal practice in a strong understanding of organizational realities. She began her legal career in 2006 at a large regional Vancouver firm, where she developed a broad civil litigation practice advising clients in local government, policing, labour and employment, insurance, and commercial litigation. In 2017, Anita joined a boutique labour, employment, and human rights firm, where she focused exclusively on workplace law. She worked with employees, employers and unions. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in private practice, governance, and business, Anita founded Anita Atwal Law in 2022.
