Balfour Der has been described by the Calgary Herald as “arguably Calgary’s top defence counsel.” In 1990 Balfour left the Prosecutor’s Office to enter private practice. He has continued to practice exclusively in criminal law. Balfour has successfully defended people who have been charged with the most minor of offences to the most serious. There is no area of criminal law that Balfour Der has not been involved with. He has defended people in several provinces and territories and his experience extends to areas outside of strict criminal offences such as tax evasion, Customs Act offences, military court martials and traffic offences.
