Bruce Outhouse has distinguished himself as an arbitrator and mediator since 1978. In that time, he was involved in more than 1,200 labour and commercial arbitrations, successfully mediating several major labour disputes, both provincially and nationally. He also has extensive experience in administrative law and public utility regulation, having served as outside counsel to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board since 1976. Throughout his lengthy career, Bruce has been elected member of Council of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society from 1984 to 1989; served as Chair of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee of the Bench, Bar and Department of Justice; served as Chair of the Qualifications Committee and the Advertising Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society; and served as a member of the Ethics Committee and the Race Relations Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society.  He also served as a member of the Public Accountants Board of Nova Scotia from 1982 to 1997, holding the office of President from 1988 to 1997.  Bruce is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators.
