A lawyer at Woodward and Company, Christa specializes in environmental and regulatory law, governance, and policy making. In the course of her work, she is driven to use law and policy to ensure the prosperity of Indigenous peoples and the protection of the places that are important to them. She is committed to finding creative solutions for her clients and is influenced by her science training and her work in the non-profit sector pursuing environmental and climate justice. Christa grew up in Sri Lanka and Scarborough (Ontario) and now provides legal services to our clients across Canada. Christa earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in chemistry and environmental science from the University of Toronto, where she received the Scarborough campus’ departmental Academic Excellence and Citizenship Award. While there, she completed internships at Environment Canada and in the food manufacturing industry. She then completed her master’s degree in public policy and administration at Toronto Metropolitan University. Prior to joining the firm, Christa articled at the Environmental Law Centre at the University of Victoria where she provided free environmental law services to Indigenous clients and community groups. Christa joined B.C. Bar in 2022 and the Northwest Territories Bar in 2023.
