As a lawyer at Woodward and Company, Francco is determined to use his strong interest in Indigenous culture and passion for wilderness and environmental stewardship to help First Nations protect their way of life and pursue justice for historical wrongs. To this end, his work specializes in Aboriginal rights and title, oil and gas regulatory and environmental law, and the duty to consult and accommodate. Originally from Vancouver, Francco holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary. He received the President’s Entrance Scholarship prior to beginning his studies at the University of British Columbia, and was awarded the Canadian Energy Law Foundation Prize and the Jason Lang Scholarship while attending law school at the University of Calgary, where he also served as the President of the Environmental Law Society. Prior to joining Woodward and Company, Francco was legal counsel at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) for three years, where he practiced in the areas of Aboriginal, environmental, administrative and oil and gas regulatory law. Before joining the AER, he articled and worked as a regulatory associate at a large national law firm in Calgary. He was first called to the Alberta Bar in 2017 and has been a lawyer at the firm since 2020.
