Ingrid Grant represents clients charged with all types of criminal and quasi-criminal offences, and has particular experience with serious charges including: terrorism, murder, sexual assault, complex frauds, drug importation, and dangerous offender hearings. Ingrid is a former Vice President of the Criminal Lawyers' Association of Ontario. She has served on that organization's legislation and litigation committees and co-chaired the women's committee, focusing on equality for women within the criminal defence bar. Ingrid is a member of the Court of Appeal for Ontario's Pro Bono Inmate Appeal program, which assists unrepresented prisoners at their appeals. She is a representative on Legal Aid Ontario's Area Committee and has volunteered with Innocence Canada (formerly the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted). Ingrid is frequently appointed as counsel to the court (amicus curiae) to assist vulnerable self-represented accused. She regularly argues appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada, including three major cases on sentencing reform: R. v. Summers, R. v. Carvery, and R. v. Safarzadeh-Markhali. Ingrid was called to the bar in 2006. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cape Breton University in Nova Scotia. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Law Society of Nunavut.
