Goodwin was born in Toronto and educated at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he earned his B.A., and the University of New Brunswick, where he earned his LL.B and met his wife. He is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society and remains a non-practicing member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.James practices in Civil Litigation, Insurance Law, Real Estate transactions, and Estate Planning, with a focus on Personal Injury, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and Long-term Disability matters. James will often work on contingency for plaintiffs with one of these matters.Outside of work, James spends time outdoors with his wife and his three dogs (two cavaliers and a husky). You will often find him out on a trail running with his husky, trying to determine how far one must run to tire it out, but no upper limit has yet been found.
