About

Micah graduated with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2011. He has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law for over a decade. Earlier in Micah’s legal career, his family law practice focused on high-conflict cases involving child custody, family violence, and urgent financial matters.  He joined the partnership at Soby Boyden Lenz LLP in 2021 and has had an active mediation practice since 2022. Micah’s experience with high conflict family law cases has equipped him with the ability steer matters toward more cost-effective and emotionally sustainable resolutions through negotiation.  While Micah values his experience in the courtroom, he prides himself on achieving out of court solutions for clients.  A successful resolution, in Micah’s view, is one where people part ways in a manner which preserves their dignity and secures a meaningful co-parenting relationship for the benefit of their children.  Micah continues to maintain a family litigation practice when it appears that collaboration and creativity are not viable options. When Micah is not in the office he enjoys spending time with his family.  He is a lowly blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is regularly beaten up by better athletes.  Micah is also the organizer of the McCann Cup, a yearly rugby match between the Calgary Bar and the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.
